Lady Geist is one of Deadlock's riskiest yet most punishing heroes. Her power rests on a simple but dangerous idea: to deal explosive spirit damage with her abilities, she pays with her own health. Master that resource and you get a hero who can trade lives in her favour and swing entire teamfights single-handedly.

Health as a Resource

The key thing to understand about Lady Geist is that her health bar is not a safety buffer — it is ammunition. Essence Bomb spends a chunk of her current HP on cast, so the habit of 'only fighting at full health' actively works against you here. Strong players deliberately sit in a mid-HP zone so they can convert life into damage at any moment and then top it back up with lifesteal.

The flip side is just as important: Lady Geist is extremely fragile when she is low and has no target to heal from. So every cast needs a recovery plan — a bomb landing on a hero, the drain beam, or a soul swap. Without that plan, an aggressive trade simply becomes a gift to the enemy.

Abilities and Their Roles

Essence Bomb is her main burst. The bomb arcs out and detonates after a short delay, dealing area spirit damage. The cast costs part of her current health, but hitting enemy heroes refunds a noticeable portion of it. Throw it where the enemy will be, not where they are standing now.

Malice fires several homing projectiles. The first hit marks the target and amplifies follow-up damage, helping you finish with a bomb. It is your trading tool in lane and your way to close out fleeing enemies.

Life Drain is a channelled beam that pulls health out of an enemy and into you. It is both damage and your main way to safely recover HP after an aggressive bomb. The beam tethers you to the target, so use it when the enemy is already locked down or pinned against a wall.

Soul Exchange is the hero's signature mechanic: you swap health values with an enemy. Dive into a fight at low HP and you can instantly trade life totals with your target — you survive while they are left on the brink of death. It is the best tool both for aggressive dives and for saving yourself.

Combos and Itemisation

A basic fight combo: mark the target with Malice, throw Essence Bomb for the burst, then finish with Life Drain to recover. If the dive is risky, hold Soul Exchange as insurance — go into the trade at low HP and take the enemy's health for yourself.

For items, Lady Geist wants Spirit gear first to amplify her abilities (Mystic Burst, Improved Spirit, Boundless Spirit) and some survivability — Extra Health, Spirit Armor or lifesteal effects that strengthen her 'spend HP, get HP back' loop. Actives like Warp Stone help you get on top of a target for Life Drain and exit a trade safely.

The main beginner tip: don't be afraid to fight at less than full health, but always know where your healing is coming from. Lady Geist punishes anyone who treats her as an easy target — as long as you have something to bomb and drain, your health bar is effectively endless.
